Reiki seems to be becoming fairly ‘mainstream’ in certain areas of the country. The word has been heard here and there on television, in magazines, and various New Age circles, but what is Reiki?
Reiki is formed of two Japanese words, Rei- and Ki-. Rei- “God’s Wisdom” or “Higher Power” and Ki- “Universal Life Force Energy” Together this s interpreted as a ‘guided Intelligent Life Force Energy’. Ki is also known as Chi, Prana, etc. All living entities possess Ki, this is what makes us animated, it is what makes us alive, and it is my belief that this is the Breath of Life God breathed in us humanity to make us alive.
Reiki is a energy system, it’s a frequency among many frequencies in this Great Universe, and it can do no harm. Reiki’s frequency is one of Intelligent Universal Love, meaning that is goes where it is needed when channeled by someone attuned to Reiki.
An attunement is how someone becomes a Reiki Practitioner. Everyone is capable of healing themself, an attunement however, realigns the upper four chakras, which are the Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown. I think of this process as a turning of a radio dial, we are all channels, yet some of us are tuned into differing radio channels.
Reiki is channeled through the Practitioner, it comes in through the Crown Chakra, down through the Third Eye, the Throat, and then the Heart. Our Hearts & Hands are connected, which is why touch can be so therapeutic and loving.
Reiki can be performed by the practitioner laying their hands on any living thing, plants, animals, people, etc. Reiki can also be performed by the practitioner laying hands on themselves for a self-healing. The last way Reiki can be performed is when a practitioner sends Reiki over time & space, which is known as "Distance Healing". Distance Healing is done similarly to sending prayer or love, along with the use of Reiki symbols that you can access when you reach level 2 as a practitioner. When you become a Reiki 2 and can access the symbols for distance healing, this also includes healing some past issues for yourself as a practitioner, as well as manifesting for your future.

Reiki is a non-transferable energy, because it is Intelligent energy, and only passes through the upper four chakras of the Practitioner, the receiver only receives what is needed, and none of the Practitioners ‘stuff’. This is also true of the Practitioner not receiving any of the clients ‘stuff’. ‘Stuff’ is a very technical term (LOL), meaning, if your practitioner has some baggage, well it’s just their baggage, and vice-versa.
